Plasma Physics Division

Objectives:

To unite European scientists interested in the physics of fully and partially ionized gases.
To promote research and teaching in plasma physics and its applications, to facilitate research collaboration and to represent. European physicists outside Europe
To coordinate activities with the other physical societies, such as the American Physical Society and the Physical Society of Japan.
To collaborate on the Editorial Board of Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion.

Prizes

The EPS Plasma Physics Division bestows various prestigious awards at its annual EPS Conference on Plasma Physics:

the Alfvén Prize, since 2000,
the Innovation Prize, since 2008,
the Sylvie Jacquemot Prize, since 2024,
the PhD Research Award, since 2005,
and the Landau-Spitzer Award, jointly awarded by the APS and EPS Plasma Physics Divisions, every 4 years during the conference.

The EPS Plasma Physics Division has 4 sections:

the Basic, Space & Astrophysical Plasma Section (BSAP),
the Beam Plasma and Inertial Fusion section (BPIF),
the Low Temperature & Dusty Plasma section (LTDP),
the Magnetic Confinement Fusion section (MCF).
